This maybe a small claim and experience compared to other hard stories out there, but i just wanted to also hear the good things. People tend to forget the good and only remember the bad, which is why I bring this up.
I had to make an insurance claim on my auto insurance through Wesfield Insurance in 2006. My wife was driving our van and had parked next to a light pole in the Walgreens parking lot. When she came back to the vehicle she started to pull away not noticing the large concrete footer to the light pole. She cut it too close and impacted the van by the concrete footer. Rest assured she was not happy. Not really thinking, she drove back home. We figured we only need a police report if you are involved with another vehicle.
The next day I called my agent to make the claim. I went through the story…wife driving…parked…pulled away…swiped a light pole. The agent asked if we got a police report. I regretfully said “No, I didnt think I needed one.” Even though we didn’t get one, we did not recieve any grief about it seeing we are great customers and have impectible driving records.
Westfield Insurance referred us to a local auto body place, which did a great job (maybe another story for another community website like this). The payment was processed to the auto body facility and we were on our way. Probably about a week and half ordeal but very smooth process. Thank you Westfield for handling our claim the way it should be.
Moral of the story: If you care about your driving record and pay your bills on time, your insurance company will treat you just as well.
